Turku invites all actors into joint action for the Baltic Sea region

The Turku Baltic Sea Days 1–5 June 2014 welcomes all leaders, experts and citizens to Turku, Finland.

During the first week of June 2014, The City of Turku will be the venue of major maritime, business and cultural events – an arena for over a thousand experts, decision-makers and political and business leaders around the Baltic Sea region. Among the invitees are also Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The Turku Baltic Sea Days 2014 conferences, meetings and events include: 10th Summit of the Prime Ministers of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS), 16th Baltic Development Forum Summit and the 5th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region, and XII Baltic Sea NGO Forum.

According to the Mayor of Turku Aleksi Randell, all participants at the Turku Baltic Sea Days from prime ministers to civil society representatives share a common vision: to make the Baltic Sea region more competitive and to promote the sustainable development and well-being of its citizens – and thus making it a better place to live.

– The Baltic Sea region is in a state of dynamic development, a region on the move.  Now is the time to take a new step to overcome barriers between partners, establish a common ground of cooperation and move from visions and words to joint action, Mayor Randell states.
