Investment promotion

Aim: The overall aim of the investment promotion activities is to increase the number of foreign investments into the Baltic Sea Region. The activities will also strengthen the image of the BSR as an appealing investment location and as well as that of the individual countries, regions and cities within the BSR.

These objectives will be met by enhancing the cooperation between the investment promotion agencies (IPAs) and other public-sector organizations.

Current challenge: As the Baltic Sea Region is not perceived as one region or promoted as such for potential investors, each country, region and city is involved in similar marketing and promotional activities with limited resources. In the highly competed world of investment promotion, this isn’t the smartest or easiest way to win investments. Increasing the overall number of foreign investments into the entire region benefits all: it improves the competitiveness and wellbeing of the entire BSR and thus also improves the attractiveness of each country, region and city.

Change: ONE BSR enables active and interested BSR national and regional investment promotion agencies (IPAs) to come regularly together and to work out concrete collaboration opportunities. Many IPAs are committed to work together, but in practice it has been challenging since a neutral platform has not existed. ONE BSR provides such a neutral platform, in which BDF will take the critical role of the honest broker amongst the BSR IPAs.
